The short version

Contents

1. Who we are

Sober Tracker ("the app", "we", "us") is developed and published by Anmol Kulshreshtha. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is kept, and the choices you have. It applies to the Sober Tracker app on Android and iOS.

2. Data stored on your device

Everything you enter in the app is saved locally on your phone, in the app's private storage. It is not sent to us or to any server we control. This includes:

Sober Tracker turns off Android's automatic cloud backup, so this data is not copied to Google Drive by the system.

3. Data we do not collect

4. Purchases and Sober Plus

Tracking is free. Sober Plus is an optional subscription (yearly or monthly) or one-time Lifetime purchase.

5. Permissions

PermissionWhy
NotificationsMorning pledge, evening check-in and optional heads-up reminders. They are created on your phone; no push server is used.
Alarms & reminders (exact alarms)So reminders arrive on time. Optional; the app works without it.
Run at startupTo keep your reminders after the phone restarts.
Biometrics (fingerprint / face)Only if you turn on App lock. The check is done by your phone; the app never receives your fingerprint or face data.
Internet / network stateOnly to load prices, buy and restore Sober Plus, and open links you tap.

6. How specific features handle data

Back up and restore

"Back up my data" creates a file with your data and opens your phone's share sheet. You choose where it goes (for example Google Drive, Files or email). That file is then covered by the privacy policy of the place you save it. Keep it private, because it contains your personal entries. "Restore from a backup" reads a file you pick and replaces the data on this phone.

Export (Sober Plus)

Creates a spreadsheet (CSV) file of your days, urges and journal that you can share or keep. It is only created when you ask for it.

App lock (Sober Plus)

Locks the app behind your phone's fingerprint, face or screen lock. Handled entirely by your phone's operating system.

Home-screen widget

Shows your day count on your home screen. Anyone who can see your home screen can see it. You can remove the widget at any time.

Reminders and discreet mode

Reminders are scheduled on your phone. With discreet reminders on, notifications use neutral wording and their content is hidden on the lock screen.

Trusted person and help

If you add a trusted person, their name and number stay on your phone. Tapping Call or Text opens your phone's dialer or messaging app; nothing is sent by Sober Tracker itself.

Share cards (Sober Plus)

Creates an image of your progress on your phone. It is only shared if you choose an app to share it with.

Ratings

The app may show the store's built-in rating prompt. Your rating and any review go to Google Play or the App Store, not to us.

7. Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information for advertising. The only service that receives any data is RevenueCat, and only the purchase information described in section 4, so that Sober Plus works. We may disclose information if required by law, but we hold almost none: your entries are only on your device.

8. Keeping and deleting data

9. Security

Your data is stored in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Connections to the store and RevenueCat use encryption (HTTPS). For extra protection you can use App lock and a screen lock on your phone. No method of storage is completely secure, so please protect your phone and any backup files.

10. Health information

The app lets you record information about alcohol or other substance use, moods and urges. This can be sensitive. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. Sober Tracker is a self-help tool, not a medical device, and does not give medical advice. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number.

11. Children

Sober Tracker is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because data stays on the device, we do not hold any child's data; if you believe a child has made a purchase, contact the store or us.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, or India's DPDP Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because your app data is only on your phone, you can access, export and delete it yourself in the app. For purchase data held by RevenueCat, or any other request, contact us and we will help within the time required by law. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.

Legal basis (GDPR): storing your data on your device is needed to provide the app you requested (contract). Purchase processing is needed to provide Sober Plus (contract) and to meet legal obligations.

13. International transfers

RevenueCat, Google and Apple may process purchase information in the United States and other countries. They use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will change, and important changes will be shown in the app or on its store page.
